April is over. It was a rainy day but this evening is nice. I mowed until the belt on the mower broke. I sure hope we have a spare - the grass is tall where I haven't been over it yet this spring.

Too Windy for Kites

It's nearly the last day of April and we're blowing away like it was March! Today was nice and warm and windy. I did a little mowing this morning before heading to town. It was difficult at times to drive a straight line because of the wind gusts.

Stuck

Sunny and windy. I dried laundry on the clothesline and mowed. Unfortunately, now the mower is stuck in the ditch. The ground there is uneven and wetter than I expected.

For those of you just joining us, since Jan. 1 I've been trying to take one photo every day from the same location. I've missed a handful of days but by the end of the year you should be able to see the seasons changing.

A Ten

I would rate today at a 10 out of 10. It was just perfect. I went to Des Moines and saw beautiful flowering crab apple trees in Waterworks Park, all different colors and kinds.

Gloom and Drips

We are getting more moisture today, mostly drizzle. It's cool and damp, more like early April should be. After school I did errands in town and didn't get too damp. I really need to mow again! The lilacs are starting to bloom now.

More drizzly weather today kept me mostly inside. I did play with the handbell choir at church this morning. It was a nice day for napping and cleaning closets.

Spring Saturday

The day started out early with a lot of thunder and lightning. It cleared up and was breezy and nice for a few hours, now it looks like we could get some more rain. Got some work done outside and inside. I think I need to do some more mowing, from the looks of the yard in this photo. I haven't gotten everything mowed the first time yet!

We needed a bit of rain and we've been getting it today - all day.  It's been the kind of day I like to stay inside and read a book. Instead, the Internet grabbed me again...

Today started out clear and nice. It's still nice but clouds are moving in. We really could use some rain. I did some more mowing today, still have more to go but it may have to wait a few days.

Can the weather be any more perfect than this? Warm, slight breeze, no mosquitoes. It just doesn't get any nicer. I need to do MUCH MORE yard work. I won't complain about having to be outside.

A Busy Day

A gorgeous day. The corn got planted in the field around us and I mowed for 90 minutes this afternoon after running errands in town.

What can I say, it's another Monday. We started the day early as we had somewhere to be at 6:30 am. It was a pretty morning.

Another Practically Perfect Day

 Days just don't get much more perfect than this. Can you see I haven't gotten the grass mowed yet? We did get a lot of clean up done outside, however. Nice day.

The temperature today was just right and the sun was shining; what more could you want? Someday soon I need to mow the yard.

Tax Day and the Next Day

It happened again; I took the photo and neglected to post it. So today you get two.
I was able to transplant two little trees from their spot in the garden to their permanent location in the pasture. It's amazing how those little trees had developed LONG tap roots in just two years. I'm afraid they are now missing part of their root systems. I hope they recover!

 Today was much cooler and the wind switched around to the north. Tonight's temperatures will see pretty chilly. I'm glad I don't have to go to the track meet tonight!

Summery

Another warm and windy day. I took advantage of the wind to dry some rugs and a comforter. The dog hasn't started shedding his winter coat yet so he lays on the concrete floor in the garage to cool off in this warm weather.

I think we've skipped over spring and gone right into summer now. It's 80° and windy. Today I divided and transplanted some perennials. Boy, do I have a lot of yard work to do!

Going Green

The grass is turning a lovely shade of green and it won't be long until I'll be mowing. I won't mind mowing, at least for the first few weeks. After that it becomes a chore.

It was a cool and breezy day but very sunny. I did some errands about 100 miles from here and ended up in a city hall when I really wanted the court house. Oh, well, I found what I needed eventually.

We had more rain and cooler temperatures today but - NO HAIL. Some creeks are actually back in their banks but everything is very soggy.

More Thunder, More Hail

We had lots of thunder and lightning last night with heavy rain. The creeks are all out of their banks, fields and ditches are flooded. This afternoon we had more hail, not as much but larger diameter than yesterday.

Thunderstorm

We had a thunderstorm today and the grass is getting much greener. It looks like we'd better get the mower ready for the summer.

It was very warm, even hot. The wind was strong again. We got the snow fence taken down; I think it was about time.
